"Out Of The Furnace" Is Out December 6th

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – From producers Ridley Scott and Leonardo DiCaprio comes the much-anticipated drama "Out of the Furnace" staring an Oscar clad cast.

The heartbreaking movie follows the lives of the Blaze brothers played by actors Christian Bale and Casey Affleck, as they are torn apart by war and addiction. When Affleck begins waging fights to pay off debt, Bale leaves no prisoners.

"It's set in a city in Pennsylvania where most of the houses are boarded up, everyone is having a hard time finding work, there are soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan who have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder," Affleck told CBS4's Lisa Petrillo. "I talked to a lot of these veterans who came back and have been in Vietnam, Afghanistan, Dessert Storm, kids I knew in High school and they all describe the really similar experience of trying to reintegrate into civilian society."

Affleck and Bale fit over 30-years of brotherly bonding into just 34-days that it took to shoot the film.

"Well, I didn't know Christian before we started the movie and there really wasn't much rehearsal period, so it was pretty quick we just sort of jumped into it and over the course of making the movie I think we just got closer," said Affleck.

"Out of the Furnace" takes the youngest Affleck brother's career to new heights. Just last week, the film's director told the New York Times that Casey is one of the best actors of his generation.

"He's a very, very, generous complimentary guy, so I can't take it too seriously," said Affleck. "But I think he is just being really nice, he is extremely supportive, you know one of the reasons that he got this huge cast is that Scott Cooper, not only did he write a brilliant screenplay, but he really likes actors."

"Out of the Furnace" will be in theaters December 6th.
