Orlando Police Arrest Teen Wanted For SW Miami-Dade Murder
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Police in Orlando have arrested a man wanted for a murder in Southwest Miami-Dade County.
Christopher Curry, 17, was arrested in Orlando Saturday.
He was jailed for burglary, but has an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Miami-Dade County.
Detectives said he was one of the gunman who killed 21-year-old Mira Smith.
Smith was shot and killed in the 10200 block of SW 173rd Terrace August 10th around 10:30 p.m.
Police said Smith, known as "Rotor" in his Richmond Heights neighborhood, was walking from a store to his aunt's house when two men jumped out of some bushes and opened fire.
Smith's older brother Michael Baker was shot in the leg.
"Once I got shot I saw my little brother on the floor screaming, but I couldn't help him, as I looked back I saw the gunman running after me with a gun," Baker said August 27th at a police press conference.
Smith's mother told reporters it's possible the suspect, Christopher Curry, may have had a feud with someone who knew her son, but police have not released information about a motive for the murder.
