ORLANDO (CBSMiami/AP) — City council members in Orlando are considering decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana.
The council will consider a measure on Monday that would give police officers the option of issuing civil fines instead of making arrests for possession of 20 grams of marijuana or less.
The fines would be for $50 for first-time offenders.
Second-time offenders would face fines of $100.
Orlando joins the ranks of other municipalities in Florida that have already decriminalized small amounts of marijuana.
