Oprah's Favorite Things Winner Likes Giving Better
ISLAMORADA (CBS4) - On Monday's Oprah, not one but two studio audiences were given fabulous prizes as part the host's "Favorite Things" show.
Heidi Nute doesn't have to imagine what it would be like to have the Queen of Talk shower her with gifts – she as there.
"She fooled us the whole time because we just had no idea it was her favorite things show," Nute told CBS4's Ted Scouten. "We thought that she had taped it earlier in the day."
Nute, who lives in Islamorada, thought she was going to be in the studio audience for the show on people who inspired Oprah. She, her mother and friends were invited because they had formed a group called "Change Through Giving."
"Every month we do something different. Sending packages to the troops, a beach clean up, finding somebody in need and each month it changes," said Nute.
During the "Favorite Things" show everyone in the audience was given an iPad, an expensive purse, jewelry, a bunch of other gifts and a brand new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle.
All of this was Oprah's way of saying thanks to those who look out for others.
"She said that for her it's not about the things, it's about something magical and joyful and wonderful happening when you least expect it," said Nute.
