Oprah May Be Heading To Great White Way
CHICAGO (CBS4) -- Oprah Winfrey may be ending her hugely popular talk show later this month, but the next item on her agenda could find her starring on the Great White Way.
Winfrey told The Chicago Tribune she's mulling over appearing in a show on Broadway.
She said, "I have a stack of plays in my bag right now that I am reading. And just this past weekend, I was in New York meeting with producers. We were just talking about what would be the best route to take. But yes, this is really going to happen. Life is too short."
Winfrey added now that the Oprah Show is wrapping up after 25 years, it's time to do something for fun. "This next phase of my life should be pure delight."
It's not known what she'll perform.
The talk queen's first foray on Broadway came in December, 2005 when "The Color Purple" premiered at The Broadway Theater with Winfrey as investor and co-producer. However, this time around, the TV host plans to be center stage. She told the Tribune, "I think that an ensemble production is the way I should go."
