One Person Injured In Lauderhill Shooting

LAUDERHILL (CBSMiami) - Crime scene tape cordoned off a section of a Lauderhill apartment complex Wednesday morning as police investigated a shooting in which one man was injured.

"He actually got shot, dropped, got up and ran," said witness Darren Hall.

Area residents said their neighborhood, at 5300 NW 25th Street, is generally very quiet and were surprised when they heard gunfire just before 5 a.m. Hill said the man was shot in the middle of the street.

"It was two loud echo shots, I can't tell you if it was an automatic or a hand gun, but it was two big shots," said Hill. "I was standing no more than 20 feet away."

Hill said after the gunfire, when the man fell to the ground several other people around him scattered.

"I saw one person head to the left and i see two people head to the right and the boy just started screaming and running down the aisle," said Hill.

Detectives spent the morning canvassing the area, talking to people who live in the area, hoping to get more information.

"We're going door to door trying to find out exactly what happend prior to our victim being shot," said Lt. Greg Solowsky.

Police have not released the name of the man who was shot or what may have led to the shooting.

Neighbors said the man who was shot was known in the area; he's a stylist who has a lot of clients in the area. As investigators look for a motive they will check to see if gender issues played a role.

""(He had) a brush cut on this side, long wavy hair on this side, he looked like a girl, but he was a guy," said Hill.

The injured man was taken to an area hospital and rushed into surgery. Police have not released any information on his condition.
