One Person In Custody After Broward Chase
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A short chase across parts of Broward came to an end in motor home community in Hallandale Beach where one person was taken into custody.
Deputies with the Broward Sheriff's Office were involved in the chase. The sheriff's office said it began when they went to serve 31-year old Jayson Kalinowski with a restraining order. When he saw them coming, Kalinowski reportedly took off.
There were initial reports of gunfire, but sheriff's office spokeswoman Dani Moschella could not confirm this. She did, however, confirm that no was injured by gunfire.
The chase came to an end near the Holiday Mobile Estates mobile home park, at 3100 W Hallandale Beach boulevard, where the man wanted by the authorities took off on foot.
As sheriff's deputies descended on the area they were joined by officers from Hallandale Beach police who assisted in the search.
Around 2 p.m., Chopper4 over the scene spotted several officers with assault rifles and a K9 take Kalinowski into custody. It appeared that he had been hiding in a shed.
A 27-year woman who was in the car with Kalinowski, along with the couple three year old daughter, were both unharmed.
Charges against Kalinowski are pending.
