Detectives say a man, who family has identified as 30-year-old Mark Constantine, was found dead in the middle of the street next to the driver's side door of a black Toyota.
"We observed an unresponsive black male lying on the middle of the roadway suffering from apparent gunshot wounds," Detective Mike Wright said.
Checkers employees said there was some sort of fight at the fast food restaurant before shots rang out.
Lady Cash, the victim's friend, said she doesn't know what happened and that Constantine doesn't have any enemies.
"He's a good person, good guy trying to get better for his kids and he became more active with the music trying to do good to raise his son," Cash said.
Constantine, a father of three, was a music producer. According to relatives he was visiting a friend who worked at Checkers.
"He was a good dad—did everything for his child. It's just sad that this has to happen like that," another friend, Mike Miller, told CBS4's Gaby Fleischman.
Detectives interviewed witnesses and dusted for prints, looking for any leads to help them lock up the person responsible.
"I just pray they get whoever did it and if anyone know who did it call Crime Stoppers or whatever because we have a whole family that's hurting here and it's crazy," Miller said.
On Wednesday they released a flyer with all of the pertinent information of the case.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
