One Dead, 2 injured In Fiery North Miami Crash
NORTH MIAMI (CBS4) - A fiery crash claimed one life Friday night in North Miami, police said.
Debris remained scattered across the road hours after the collision at the intersection of NE 142 St. and NE 10 Ave.
According to police, a pick-up truck and a Buick passenger vehicle crashed after one car blew through a stop sign.
One car caught fire moments after the impact.
Lt. Neal Cuevas said a passenger died on scene in the burning car.
The two drivers were airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in serious condition, Cuevas said.
Witnesses rushed in to try to help the victims as the fire grew.
"It was too quick and too fast," neighbor Jeff Haley said of the fire. "There was nothing we could do."
Haley said he did try to pull a victim who had landed outside the car away from the vehicle before the flames spread.
As of Friday night, police had not released the names or ages of the victims.
They anticipated being on the scene for a few more hours collecting evidence, taking measurements and gathering statements from witnesses.
