Number of Hispanic Voters Up In Florida

MIAMI (CBSMiami/NSF) – With the primaries less than two weeks away, the newly released voter registration totals are in which indicate the number of Hispanic voters is up—especially in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

According to the totals, the number of Hispanic voters increased during the past two years and the largest numbers are in Dade and Broward, followed by Orange and Hillsborough counties.

In all, 1,705,985 Hispanics are registered to vote in the Aug. 26 primary elections, up from 1,660,074 who were eligible to vote in the 2012 general election and 1,550,635 who were eligible to vote in the 2012 primaries, the reports show.

Hispanic registered voters outnumber black registered voters. In all, 1,594,341 black voters are registered to vote in the August primaries, with the largest numbers in Broward, Miami-Dade and Duval counties.

That compares with 1,620,069 black voters who were registered for the 2012 general election and 1,519,404 who were registered for the 2012 primaries.
