NTSB: Miami Plane Crashed On 1st Flight After Prop Overhaul

MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — According to federal investigators, a twin-engine plane had just undergone a propeller overhaul before it crashed shortly after takeoff from a Miami airport earlier this month – killing four people.
A National Transportation Safety Board preliminary report released Thursday said the Beechcraft 1900 was on its first flight Feb. 11 after the overhaul when it went down trying to return to the Miami Executive Airport. An NTSB spokesman told CBS4's news partner The Miami Herald the pilot reported trouble in the left engine.
Completion of a final report could take a year or more.
The plane belonged to the Venezuelan unit of the Brink's security firm. All four men who died were from Venezuela. The aircraft was headed first to the Turks and Caicos islands before a planned return to Venezuela.
