Noles Ready To Fly Like An Eagle Against BC
CHESNUT HILL, Mass. (CBSMiami) - The Florida State Seminoles dive head first back into Atlantic Coast Conference play Saturday when they travel to Massachusetts to play the Boston College Eagles.
The game will be the beginning of seven consecutive conference matchups for the Seminoles that will determine the fate of FSU this season. The Noles are looking to play in the ACC title game for the third time in four years in 2013.
Plus, if FSU has any hopes of the BCS Championship, more than one ACC loss would be crippling.
Boston College will turn to running back Andre Williams to try and control the tempo in the game. Williams leads the ACC with 118.7 yards rushing per game and he'll be running behind a veteran offensive line.
The offensive line will need to be ready because if BC can't hold onto the ball; FSU will be ready to unleash one of the top offensive attacks in the country.
FSU ranks fifth in the nation in scoring offense, averaging a staggering 52.3 points per game this season.
The offense is keyed around redshirt freshman quarterback Jameis Winston. The first-year starter is completing 78.1 percent of his passes and has thrown eight touchdowns to just one interception this season.
Winston has just 14 incomplete passes this season and is averaging 239.3 yards per game through the air.
But don't let FSU fool you with its passing game, the Noles still like to run the football.
The Noles have have run the ball 111 times this season and gained 799 yards and 11 touchdowns. FSU is averaging roughly 7.2 yards per attempt, according to numbers from cfbstats.com.
Boston College has struggled to stop the run this year, with the 81st best run defense in the country.
