Noles Needs Receivers To Step Up As Injuries Mount
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami) – While the first game of the season is still a few weeks away, the Florida State Seminoles are losing wide receiver depth at a concerning pace.
Wednesday, Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher said receiver Jarred Haggins will likely be out for the season due to a stress fracture in his knee. Haggins does have a redshirt season remaining, which he may use for this year and then return in 2014.
Haggins' injury comes after the school ruled receiver Willie Haulstead academically ineligible earlier in August. The team also lost receiver Greg Dent to indefinite suspension after he was arrested for an alleged sexual assault.
FSU does return its top two receivers Rashad Greene and Kenny Shaw, along with Kelvin Benjamin, but behind them will be a group of largely untested receivers. But, Fisher believes the group is ready to step up and push the Noles offense even further.
