Noles Crack Top 5 In New AP Top 25

MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The AP Top 25 was released Tuesday afternoon with a surprise at the number two position.

Oklahoma remained the number one team in the country powered by a decisive victory over Tulsa. But, previous number two Alabama dropped to number three in the country.

In its place, LSU jumped from number four to number two with a demolition of then number three-ranked Oregon. LSU dropped 40 points on Oregon and were in complete control of the game from start to finish.

The Sunshine State was represented in the Top 25 by Florida State and Florida. The Florida State Seminoles rose to number five in the country after blanking Louisiana-Monroe last weekend.

The Florida Gators, a team floating just below the radar, now stands at number 18 following a solid victory over the struggling Florida Atlantic Owls. The Gators are led by first-year head coach Will Muschamp.

The Big XII had the most representation in the top 10 with Oklahoma (1), Texas A&M (7), and the Oklahoma State Cowboys (9). The SEC and Big Ten each had two teams in the top 10.
