Noles Best Virginia 63-56 Despite Injured Player
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CBS4) – The Seminoles had a bittersweet victory over the Cavaliers Saturday when they won the game 63-56, but lost a top player to a fractured foot.
Top-scorer Chris Singleton fractured his right foot to the point that it will need surgery to repair, benching him for some time, said Florida State Coach Leonard Hamilton.
During the game Michael Snaer scored 16 points, including four straight free throws in the final 20 seconds, allowing for a sweet win for the Seminoles (18-7, 8-3 Atlantic Coast Conference).
Singleton was hurt 10 minutes into the game, but had already scored 11 points with Virginia leading 19-15.
Sammy Zeglinsky scored 19 points and Joe Harris 17 for Virginia, which lost for the fourth time in five games.
Virginia (12-12, 3-7 ACC) fought back from a 16-point deficit in the second half and pulled to within 56-53 with 1:11 left on Harris' short running jumper.
