COCONUT CREEK (CBSMiami) – Three Coconut Creek police officers have been cleared of criminal charges in the death of a 39-year-old man who they repeatedly tasered.
A Broward grand jury just decided the officers are not to blame for Calvon Reid's death.
Reid was under the influence of flakka, cocaine, marijuana and alcohol at the time officers tasered him in an effort to subdue him.
Reid, who had a preexisting heart condition, died two days after the encounter.

Witnesses said officers appeared quick to use their Tasers and could have restrained without repeated shots from the electric device.
According to documents obtained by CBS4 News in March of 2015, three of the four officers involved should not have been carrying Tasers because they had failed to undergo the state mandated re-certification class a year earlier.
Those revelations came on the same day Coconut Creek Police Chief Michael Mann was forced to resign by the city manager.
