Tropical Storm Ida Gains Speed, Expected To Slow Back Down

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Tropical Storm Ida is moving quickly on Sunday afternoon but is expected to slow down soon as it continues to move in the eastern Atlantic.
At 5 p.m., Tropical Storm Ida was about 1100 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands.
The storm is moving northwest near 17 mph with this general motion expected over the next day or so. Ida is forecast to become nearly stationary by Tuesday.
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph with higher gusts.
A decrease in forward speed is expected over the next 24 hours.
There continue to be no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
