No Bond For Wisconsin Inmates Captured In Hollywood
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A pair of escaped convicts from Wisconsin who were captured near the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood was ordered held without bond.
James Newman, 29, and James Misleveck, 18, appeared in bond court in Ft. Lauderdale Thursday morning.
The two were first spotted by security guards acting suspiciously in a parking garage at the casino.
A casino security guard stopped the pair after they were seen circling the garage. When asked what they were doing, Newman and Misleveck said they were looking for the exit. The guard directed them to the exit, but noticed they continued to drive around the garage.
They eventually left but turned up in another of the casino's parking garage. They eventually left and security called the Seminole Police Department. The pair was pulled over about a block away and that's when police discovered they were driving a stolen vehicle from Wisconsin.
Newman and Misleveck reportedly carjacked or stole several vehicles after their escape. One of those vehicles belonged to Deb Lozano who said they kidnapped her.
"I kept thinking my husband, my daughter, my family, and my relatives didn't know where I was or didn't know I was gone, or whether I'd be coming back," said Lozano.
Seminole police, with assistance of Hollywood police, were able to take both men into custody.
Police can't understand why the men made a break for it in the first place. Newman had only six months left on his sentence, Misleveck had just 30 days.
