NHL & NHLPA Working On Ending Lockout
SUNRISE (CBSMiami) – It says something about your organization when Congress is able to come to an agreement quicker than you. But, such is the state of the National Hockey League and its owner-imposed lockout of the players.
The NHL has canceled every game up to this point and could be poised to cancel the entire season if a collective bargaining agreement with the NHL Players Association in the next few weeks.
However, for the first time in many months, the two sides appeared to be edging closer together on a new CBA. The two sides exchanged complete proposals in the last few days and according to prohockeytalk.com, they may be nearing an agreement on revenue sharing.
In addition, prohockeytalk.com reported the NHLPA is now willing to accept a 10-year length for a new collective bargaining agreement.
Both sides have been exchanging proposals and while both sides say a significant gulf remains between the two sides, for the first time in a long time, the hatred between both sides seems to be receding and a deal could be within sight in the coming weeks.
