CHARLOTTE (CBSMiami/AP) – As many teams have been doing in recent years, the Miami Dolphins will be working with another NFL team during the preseason to help prepare for when the games actually count.
The Carolina Panthers have announced they will have joint training camp practices with the Dolphins this summer.
The practices are scheduled for Aug. 19 and 20 at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, in advance of the Dolphins-Panthers preseason game in Charlotte on Aug. 22.
Panthers coach Ron Rivera said in a release Thursday, "I have a tremendous amount of respect for coach [Joe] Philbin, and we're excited to be working with the Dolphins."
The Panthers haven't held a joint practice with another team since 2000 when they hosted the Detroit Lions.
Miami's players will report to the teams practice facility in Davie, Florida on July 28 and Philbin has said that on-field practices will be begin a couple days later.
Carolina players report to training camp on July 30 with practices beginning the following day.
