NFL Suspends Texans Player For Actions Against Incognito
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The National Football League suspended Houston Texans defensive end Antonio Smith for two preseason games and the first game of the regular season after his actions against Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Video showed Smith forcibly pulling off Incognito's helmet and then swinging it at his face. The incident happened during the Houston vs. Miami game last Saturday.
Smith and Incognito have a history dating back to last year when Smith was fined for kicking Inconito in the head. Smith said it was retaliation for Incognito twisting his ankle earlier in the game last season.
The league chose to add a regular season game to the suspension as a preseason suspension would be minimal because Smith would likely only play about two or two-and-a-half more quarters in the preseason.
Smith will also lose his game check for all three weeks that he's suspended.
