Tropical Depression Five Forms In Bay Of Campeche
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tropical Depression Five formed Monday afternoon in the eastern Bay of Campeche and may form into the next named tropical system.
It located about 255 miles east-southeast of Tuxpan, Mexico with sustained winds of 30 mph and is moving west-northwestward at 13 mph.
As the depression moves west, it will produce copious amounts of rainfall across the Yucatan and southeastern Mexico through Tuesday.
Some isolated 10-inch rainfall totals are expected with most locations receiving three to six inches of rainfall.
The Mexican government has issued a tropical storm warning for the Gulf coast of Mexico from Tuxpan northward to La Pesca.
Mountainous areas could see flash floods and mud slides.
If the system develops into a named storm, the name will be Dolly.
Chief Meteorologist Craig Setzer and Meteorologist John Gerard will be watching for developments Monday evening.
