New Video Of Robbery At Heat Player Chris Bosh's Home
MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) – The surveillance video of what happened the night more than $300,000 worth of jewelry, cash and purses were stolen from Miami Heat star Chris Bosh's Miami Beach home has now been made public.
The video, captured by a camera mounted in front of Bosh's property, showed two men walk up the short driveway and jump over a perimeter wall to gain access to Bosh's property.
One man was wearing a hoodie and the other is attempting to hide his face with his clothing.
Bosh was out celebrating his 29th birthday at a lavish Moroccan-themed bash when the break-in occurred.
At the time, he told reporters his home was equipped with surveillance cameras.
"It's not a good feeling," Chris Bosh said. "But, you know, we have it set-up a certain way so we can get down to the bottom of it. We'll get there."
Bosh said he called Miami Beach Police around midnight after returning home from his birthday party when he noticed two rings on the floor in his closet.
His championship ring was not stolen.
The report said he and his wife, Adrienne, then realized hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of purses, twelve watches, and two rings had been taken, plus quite a bit of cash from a safe.
The home has an alarm, but Bosh told police it was not armed because babysitters were home with his kids.
At the start of the investigation, police said there was no forced entry into the gated home, but they did notice the back door was unlocked.
They were looking into the possibility the robbery was an inside job.
Chris Bosh's teammate, Udonis Haslem, was a victim of burglary just a week and a half after the incident at Bosh's home.
In that case, Broward Sheriff's Office deputies responded to Haslem's Southwest Ranches home to find garbage bags filled with items from the home in the bedroom and an open suitcase in the entryway.
Security alarms mounted throughout the home had been ripped off, according to the report.
It did not appear as though anything had been taken from the home, according to investigators.
The report also said there were pry marks on the safe inside Haslem's closet.
At the time, it appeared nothing had been taken.
"There's nothing worse than a thief," Haslem said days before he became a victim. He said he was "pissed off" about what happened at Bosh's house.
Police were investigating whether the crimes were connected.
