New UF Dorm To Let Students Run Start-Ups

GAINESVILLE (CBSMiami/AP) — University of Florida students staying in a certain dorm will be able to run their own start-ups soon.
The Gainesville Sun reported Sunday that as part of a public-private partnership between the school and Signet Development, a new dorm will allow students to operate businesses and build prototypes in the dorm's community room.
The new dorm being built two blocks east of campus is called Infinity Hall. It will have dorm space for 308 students to live, eat and sleep, and an additional 20,000 square feet for them to develop projects.
Signet is paying for the $23 million dorm. The Sun says it's also an economic development project for the city of Gainesville, which will eventually go back on the tax rolls.
