New Sex Assault Lawsuit Filed Against Doral Golf Resort & Spa
DORAL (CBSMiami) – Another sexual abuse lawsuit was filed Tuesday against the Doral Golf Resort & Spa by a woman who claims to have been sexually assaulted during a massage at the luxury spa.
This brings the total number of sexual assault lawsuits against the luxury resort to six.
The newest lawsuit, filed Tuesday January 29th by attorney Jeffrey Herman, alleges the woman, identified as Jane Doe, was assaulted during a spa treatment.
The woman accused masseur John Pacheco, of sexually assaulting her on May 26, 2010. The suit states during the course of a massage, Pacheco purposely touched her breasts and genitals in a sexual manner.
Following the assault, the suit states the woman immediately reported the incident to management who in turn, issued her a credit for cost of her massage.
In addition, she claims the Doral Golf Resort and Spa continued to employ Pacheco even after the assault was reported and never reported the incident to the Florida Department of Health.
According to Jane Doe's attorney, two other women also claimed they were sexually assaulted by Pacheco, after the May 26th incident. Those two cases were resolved, although the terms are confidential.
No criminal charges have been filed in the case of the first victim.
Pacheco surrendered his massage therapy license after the Florida Department of Health charged him with misconduct, according to Herman.
Another previous employee of the spa, David Munoz, was accused of sexually assaulting three women during massages in 2010 and 2011.
He was charged with one count of sexual battery. Two of the three cases are still pending, according to CBS4 News partner The Miami Herald.
Herman said Munoz continued to work at the spa after the first incident, which he said was also reported immediately to spa managers.
This is the sixth sexual assault lawsuit Herman has filed against Doral Golf Resort & Spa since 2011.
