New S. Fla. Casino Ship To Set Sail In March
RIVIERA BEACH (CBSMiami/AP) — While lawmakers in Tallahassee battle over proposed plans to bring Las Vegas style megacasinos to South Florida, officials in Palm Beach County have given approval to a new casino ship.
Port commissioners unanimously approved twice-a-day sailings by Black Diamond Casino.
Black Diamond plans to begin sailing its 160-foot ship in March. It has room for 550 passengers, who'll be able to play slots, roulette, blackjack and poker, as well as place sports bets. Gambling will only take place in international waters.
The Palm Beach Post reports about 150 jobs are expected to be created by the new ship. It's the first casino ship to sail from the Port of Palm Beach since the Palm Beach Princess stopped operating about two years ago.
