New Romney Ad Angers News Agency
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Mitt Romney has flooded the airwaves across the Sunshine State with ads trying to help him win Tuesday's Florida primary, but he has run afoul with one of his ads.
NBC News has sent the Romney campaign a request that a political advertisement that is almost completely a clip of then NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw introducing a segment about Newt Gingrich be pulled from the air.
The news report in question discussed Gingrich's ethics problems which eventually cost him his position as Speaker of the House. At the end of the commercial, a line that says "Paid for by Romney for President, approved by Mitt Romney," appears under Brokaw's image.
The ad began airing in Florida Friday. NBC asked the campaign to remove all NBC news material from the ad, and Brokaw said he was "extremely uncomfortable with the extended use of his image."
Romney's campaign has not responded to the notification from NBC News.
