New Laws Set To Go On Saturday
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (CBSMiami.com) – From guns to abortions, a bevy of new state laws are set to take effect Saturday.
One of the laws has local officials across the state in a frenzy to repeal gun control ordinances in order to comply with a new law set to start on Saturday.
The new state law supersedes ordinances including bans on firearms in parks, buildings, and other public places. The state law is less restrictive, but if local officials don't repeal the ordinances now, they could be fined up to $5,000.
Another law will make it even more difficult for juvenile girls to get an abortion, by making it more difficult to get waivers from the state's parental notification requirement.
Other laws are aimed at curtailing medical malpractice lawsuits and will outlaw sex with animals.
