Nelson Ends Gubernatorial Speculation
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Before the speculation can even get out of hand, Florida Senator Bill Nelson said Friday he will not launch a gubernatorial bid in 2014.
A spokesman suggested earlier this week Nelson could possibly be looking at a run for governor. But Nelson, who was on MSNBC Friday said that's not even in the cards.
"Look, I have no plans to run for governor. I have no intention of running for governor," Nelson said, according to talkingpointsmemo.com. "I love this job as senator except I am very, very frustrated as we have discussed this morning that we can't get anything done because you can't get people together to build consensus."
Nelson would arguably be considered the top Democrat in the race to unseat Governor Rick Scott if the Senator had chosen to run. The widespread speculation surrounding the gubernatorial race in 2014 is centering on former Governor Charlie Crist running as a democrat against Scott.
