Neighbors Unfazed By Stabbing Near Ball Court
WESTON (CBSMiami) – The weekend stabbing of a man near a townhome community basketball course is the talk of the neighborhood.
It happened Sunday afternoon on the street in front of the courts at the San Michele townhouse development.
Neighbors said the basketball court is usually busy on the weekends with players of all ages.
Some neighbors said they were shocked at what had happened, others pointed out it was an isolated incident.
"It's so safe around here," said Bryana Simpson, "You just see kids running around every day. You ask anybody and they'd say they just wouldn't expect this to happen."
"They're here at all times of the day, during the day, during the night, the kids are playing basketball, they ride their bikes here. I feel pretty safe leaving the kids here," said Adelaida Simpson who lives in the community.
Sheriff's department spokesman Mike Jachles said injured man, who was in his 20s, was taken by air rescue to Broward General Medical Center for treatment.
Jachles added that the man was not from Weston and his injuries were not life threatening.
