NC Company Recalls Cucumbers In Fla., 8 Other States
RALEIGH, N.C. (CBS4) -- Cucumbers harvested at a South Florida farm are being recalled by a North Carolina company after salmonella was found on some of the cukes delivered to a Florida business last week.
Raliegh-based L&M Companies Inc. said Friday there have been no reports of illness with its cucumbers, and none of its other products are involved. However, the company decided to recall the cucumbers after federal inspectors found salmonella on some of the cucumbers at Four Seasons Produce of Central Florida, Inc. on April 13th.
The cucumbers were distributed whole and in bulk in cartons marked Nature's Delight with a lot number of PL-RID-002990. They were sent on April 7 to wholesalers in New York, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Nebraska, Texas and Wyoming.
The company did not give the location in South Florida where the cucumbers were grown.
Consumers who think they may have the recalled product in their possession should not consume it and should contact the place of purchase to determine if their cucumber is included in this recall.
Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.
