N4N, HandsOn Broward Dedicate Day Of Service In Remembrance Of 9/11
MIAMI (CBS4) - In honor of September 11th, many across the country volunteered on this National Day of Service and Remembrance.
Neighbors 4 Neighbors community partners, HandsOn Broward, organized a big renovation project this morning for Keystone Halls, a community for veterans in Fort Lauderdale.
Volunteers painted homes, built benches and picnic tables and created vegetable gardens for the veterans to enjoy.
"The main point is to try reignite that spirit of unity that people had immediately following the events of September 11th 2001, and bringing together volunteers on a day like today is not only inspiring to us but to see the different groups mingling and talking and sharing stories is really what it's truly all about," explained Darril Gaschler, Project Manager for HandsOn Broward.
More than one hundred volunteers of all ages participated in the nearly 17 thousand dollar project.
