Murdered School Nurse Suspected Ex-Husband Of A Burglary Before Her Death
PALM BEACH GARDENS (CBSMiami) - The murdered school nurse whose body was dumped in a sugar cane field reported a break-in at her house in the weeks before she disappeared.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, Kimberly Lindsey, 49, suspected that her ex-husband Dr. Albert Lambert burglarized her house in the 15400 block of 82nd Terrace North in unincorporated Palm Beach Gardens on Oct. 10th, according to an incident report.
Lambert, an emergency room physician who died on Sunday of a suspected narcotics overdose, would've been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Lindsey's death, said Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw at a news conference on Sunday.
The case began when Lindsey failed to show up for work at the Bak Middle School of the Arts in West Palm Beach on Oct. 28. Deputies checked her house and found blood stains, determining that Lindsey, a school nurse, was missing and endangered. Her decapitated body was found in a Hendry County sugar cane field on Oct. 30.
Sheriff's investigators said blood evidence linked Lambert to his ex-wife's murder. They tracked him to his sister's home in Miami, where he died. Now the couple may be in legal trouble for removing Lambert's body instead of notifying police of his death. Investigators say they saw it themselves.
"They were down there on the surveillance waiting for us to get down there with the arrest warrant and they saw a male and female come out of the residence struggling to carry a body, wrapped up in a sheet," said Bradshaw.
A spokeswoman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said it would be up the Miami Police Department to determine if charges would be filed against Lambert's sister and her boyfriend.
Prior to her death, Lindsey's relationship with her ex-husband husband appeared to have become strained, according to court documents. The former couple had been married for 19 years before their divorce was finalized in February. They have three daughters, Sarah, 20, Savannah, 18, and Sofia, 16.
Tuesday a judge ordered that Sarah and Sofia Lambert will have full guardianship of their 16-year-old sister. Savannah.
The girls attended the guardianship hearing and Judge John Phillips appointed Sarah and Sofia as the guardians of Savannah, 16.
A memorial service for Kimberly Lindsey will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at 3:00p.m. at Christ Fellowship Gardens South Campus located at 5312 Northlake Blvd, Palm Beach Gardens, FL. It is located on the South side of Northlake Blvd. directly opposite the main campus.
Lindsey was the school nurse at Bak Middle School of the Arts. School officials said they would rename the clinic at the West Palm Beach school in her memory.
