Murder Suspect's Mother Urged Him To Turn Himself In To Police
MIAMI (CBS4) - Miami Police detectives are looking for the man suspected of killing his ex-girlfriend outside a Little Havana drug store Friday afternoon.
They want to talk to Ifrain Quintana.
So does his mother. On Saturda, Katileydi Quintana made an emotion plea for him to come forward.
"Turn yourself in," she told him over the phone. "Call me."
Quintana said her son needs psychiatric help and insisted police wanted to help him.
Investigators said Quintana is armed and extremely dangerous.
They said he confronted Ariadna Gonzalez Campa, 42, Friday afternoon along SW 5th St. and 8th Avenue, taunted her then shot her multiple times.
The Gonzalez Campa's son waited for word about his mother shortly after she was rushed to the Jackson Memorial Hospital.
The young man broke down on the sidewalk when police told him his mom didn't make it.
"I want justice for the man who did this," he told CBS 4 News.
At one point Friday night, it appeared the victim's relatives wanted to take it into their own hands.
Emotions ran high when they thought they saw a truck matching the Quintana's vehicle nearby.
One man took out a gun and a shouting match ensued.
CBS 4's Brian Andrews had to jump over a fence to get out of harms way.
"The family is destroyed," the victim's step father said.
He said Quintana acted out of jealousy and Quintana's mother agreed.
"You did it out for love. For love. You saw the woman with another man," Katileydi Quintana said.
Police are looking for a 2001 Blue Ford Explorer with a Florida tag.
