5 People Killed At Orlando Business By Former Employee Who Had Been Fired

ORLANDO (CBSMiami) — Multiple people were killed at a mass shooting in Orlando Monday morning.
The shooting took place at Fiamma Inc., a business located on North Forsyth Road.
According to the Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings, a former employee who had been fired sometime in April returned to the business around 8 a.m.
45-year-old John Robert Neumann Jr opened fire on five former co-workers, four males and one female.
One male was transported to a local area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The other victims were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Neumann then turned the gun on himself and took his own life.
Police say he did this just as they were about to enter the building.
Eight witnesses that survived the attack were also inside the business. Police say they range in age from 44 to 69.
Neumann was also carrying a large hunting knife and a smaller knife but authorities say it doesn't appear that any of the victims were stabbed.
According to Demings, the gun Numann used was semi-automatic and he re-loaded at least once.
Authorities are in the process of notifying the victims' next of kin before releasing their names.
As for the recent terror attacks happening in Europe, Sheriff Demings said "we cannot connect this incident to any global terrorism."
Demings also said Neumann had been accused of assaulting a former employee.
He was not charged in that incident, which took place in June 2014. The alleged victim of that assault was not one of the victims in Monday's shooting.
Authorities say that Neumann is an Army veteran, discharged in 1999. He lived alone with no family in the area.
He had been arrested multiple times between 1995 and 2010, with charges including marijuana possession, DUI, hit and run, habitual driving with a suspended license, theft and violation of probation.
Demings said that Neumann does not have a concealed weapons permit.
Roads in the area of the shooting have been shut down as officers investigate.
