Multi-Car Accident Shuts Down Northbound I-95
MIAMI GARDENS (CBSMiami) – A major accident shut down all northbound lanes on I-95 early Friday morning for hours.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a dump truck lost its load of gravel and spilled onto the northbound lanes of I-95. That in turn caused three cars to lose control. Two of those cars rolled over and one crashed.
Only one person was taken to the hospital as a result of the accident, FHP said.
FHP was working with the Florida Department of Transportation to clean up the gravel, but that left all northbound lanes closed indefinitely until the cleanup has made the roadway safe for drivers.
FDOT and FHP said there was no estimate for when the northbound lanes would be reopened. Traffic was being diverted onto Miami Gardens Drive, which caused significant delays for northbound drivers Friday morning.
