MPDP Advises Officers To Remain On High Alert After Paris Attacks

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami-Dade Police Department has advised their officers to be on high alert following the attacks in Paris.
Authorities said there is no information that South Florida threatened at this time, but are taking precautions.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez said he has been in constant contact with Miami-Dade police.
He released a statement late Friday night:
The events in Paris are heartbreaking. The thoughts and prayers of Miami-Dade County are with everyone affected by the senseless attacks in that city and throughout France.
I have been in constant contact with the Miami-Dade Police Department (MDPD) leadership. MDPD continues to monitor the situation in Paris through the Southeast Florida Fusion Center which is located here in Miami-Dade County. Although there is no information at this time that Miami-Dade faces any imminent threat, MDPD is taking prudent measures out of an abundance of caution and continuing to work with our Federal and State partners. At this time, all Miami-Dade Police Department officers have been advised to remain on high alert. Additional measures are in place at Miami International Airport and PortMiami.
The safety of our 2.6 million residents continues to be our top priority.
News of the Paris attack broke at around 5 p.m. local time following reports of bombings and shootings.
French police officials confirmed two suicide attacks and one bombing near Paris stadium.
The Paris prosecutor said the death toll in attacks at six sites could exceed 120 and that five attackers may be dead.
