Driver Charged In Motorcycle Hit & Run Crash
HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) - Several South Florida drivers helped the Florida Highway Patrol nab the driver of an SUV who reportedly struck a motorcyclist on I-95 early Sunday morning.
FHP spokesman Sgt. Mark Wysocky said the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-95 just after 8 a.m. The driver of a black KIA SUV, identified as 30-year old Corey Seltenright, reportedly rear-ended 42-year old Ytzhak Hartzy, who was riding a Yamaha motorcycle, near Pembroke Park Road and then kept driving.
Hartzy lost control on impact and went flying off the bike. He was rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood where he's listed in critical condition.
Several drivers who saw the accident followed Seltenright's SUV to Sheridan Street where he got off and headed east. At Oakwood Boulevard when Seltenright stopped at a light, the witnesses boxed his vehicle in and then got out of their vehicles and confronted him. They reportedly forced Seltenright to get out of his SUV and then held him until Hollywood police arrived.
"I chased him, he got boxed in by a car, I yanked him out of the car and put him in a headlock and held him on the concrete," said John Roxy.
Seltenright has been charged with careless driving, DUI involving serious bodily injury and property damage, and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.
