Motorcyclist, Driving Wildly, Dies In Crash

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- What began with a motorcyclist driving wildly on I-95 according to witnesses, ended in tragedy.
"I saw that he was like seriously out of control. I actually was on the phone and said that he was gonna hurt himself," said fellow driver Tia Finley.
The motorcyclist slammed into a light pole and his body ended up on the street below the highway.
The motorcycle caught fire, charred debris was left scattered across the highway.

"I tried to go get him from the bike but he wasn't on the bike. I walked down the bridge and I saw his torso and it just threw me," described Finley.
Finley said the man on the motorcycle. who was wearing a helmet, drove recklessly for ten miles. He was popping wheelies and performing other stunts, she said, possibly trying to impress a nearby driver.
"It was another individual in a car that he was stopping and going and dealing with. It was a girl, I guess he was flirting with the girl. He would stop and go, he was showing off. "
Emergency crews shut down I-95 near the 395 for hours as traffic was rerouted away from the deadly scene.
The senselessness of the man's death weighs heavily on those who saw it, and those whose job it is to prevent these kinds of tragedies, like Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Joe Sanchez.
"This is something that's happening too often in South Florida, these motorcyclists getting on these fast bikes and not realizing that just a simple helmet is not going to save your life."
The Florida Highway Patrol is still working to identify the man who died.
His motorcycle was badly burned, slowing down their efforts to notify his family.
