Mother-In-Law Allegedly Becomes Monster-In-Law Over Childless Daughter
HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) - The American patriot Patrick Henry once said, "Give me liberty, or give me death." But for one Hollywood mother-in-law it became, give me a grandchild or here comes a beating.
According to Hollywood Police, they were dispatched to a domestic violence 911 call Monday afternoon and when they arrived, heard a verbal dispute between Georgette Al-Billeh and her mother-in-law Rand Natour, 61.
Once the two were separated, Al-Billeh told officers that she and her husband had just arrived in the United States from Jordan. Al-Billeh said she and her husband had been unable to have a child in their three years of marriage, according to Hollywood Police.
Al-Billeh said that Natour is verbally abusive and accusatory towards her for not giving her a grandchild, according to Hollywood Police.
"Allegedly you attacked your daughter-in-law becuase she has not produced a grandchild for you," said Judge John Hurley in bond court.
"Did she hit you?" CBS 4's Ted Scouten asked Al-Billeh when he spoke to hour at her apartment.
"Ya," she said.
"From what was said in court, she was angry because you are not pregnant?"
"Ya," she said again, "because not my problem, not my problem, she continued.
According to the police report, Al-Billeh said that Natour threatened to force her and her son back to Jordan and when the daughter-in-law said she wasn't going to leave, Natour allegedly smacked her and then grabbed Al-Billeh by the arms and began to shake her.
Hollywood Police said Al-Billeh told them Natour also grabbed hold of her hair and pulled trying to force her to the floor before Al-Billeh was able to get her cell phone and call police.
Natour was taken to the Hollywood Police Department and charged with domestic violence/battery.
As she walked out of the Paul Rein Detention Facility in Pompano Beach on Tuesday night, CBS 4 News asked Natour about the allegations:
"Did you beat your daughter in law?" a CBS 4 Reporter asked. "Never," Natour replied.
"Did you beat your daughter-in-law because she couldn't give you a grandchild?" a CBS 4 Reporter asked. She again replied, "Never."
Natour then climbed into a waiting truck and drove off.
