More Storms Likely Today, Then, Welcome The Desert Dust
MIAMI (CBS4) - As South Florida wrings out it's sneakers following a day of torrential storms and flooding, a sunny morning does not mean we can take our eye off the horizon. The CBS4 Storm Center is predicting a good chance of more wet weather Tuesday.
CBS4 Meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez credits that chance to an upper level Low pressure system over Northern Florida and abundant tropical moisture in place across the Sunshine state. Combine the two and it's a forecast for rain.
"The daytime heating and the moisture will lead to a very unsettled atmosphere this afternoon," Lissette noted, "and once again storms will fire up with the potential for some strong storms and isolated flooding in spots."
As annoying as the storms are, a change is in the forecast. This time of year South Florida often has an African visitor; the drier air of the Saharan desert, complete with desert dust, moves in from the West.
A ridge of high pressure in combination with the Saharan Air Layer will make the skies look hazy, almost milky, and give South Florida days with filtered sunshine and highs soaring to the low 90s. that feels like 100 wirh the humidity is factored in.
