MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Holiday shopping is in full swing and millions of people are going online to find the perfect gift.

It turns out, most people aren't just cyber shopping on their time.

A new survey from CareerBuilder.com found more than half of workers polled said they will holiday shop at work - that's up more than three percent from last year.

Corey Sanchez said he sneaks his purchases at work by using his phone.

"I'll look at the time and make sure I'm not too late to catch the sale," said Sanchez. "I'll rush in the bathroom and I'll wait those extra two minutes and I'll say shop, buy, put it in a cart, put it in a cart, put it in a cart. Once it's in the cart it's mine, it's great, that's it and it's all done."

Some spend more time online. Forty three percent of shopper said they log on for about hour a day to shop.

"I swear a package shows up at our door every day because my husband is on Amazon every day of the week," said Julie Wick.

Employers are catching on. Nearly 54 percent said they block employees from accessing certain websites and 11 percent said they've fired someone they caught holiday shopping on company time. A third said they care if employees spend time on non-work related emails and websites as they would prefer them to be focused on work.
