Moore Remains Henne's Backup In Practice
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The Miami Dolphins returned to the practice field Monday after watching their reserves play well and their starters stink it up last Friday night in Atlanta.
Quarterback Chad Henne took all first-team snaps for the Dolphins Monday, despite his showing last Friday. In the game against the Falcons, Henne didn't make quick reads, threw two interceptions, and looked overwhelmed.
On the other hand, backup quarterback Matt Moore looked calm and collected as he rallied the Fins' backups to a victory over the Falcons. But head coach Tony Sparano apparently is willing to stick with Henne, at least through Friday night's game against the Carolina Panthers.
Sparano said that in the Dolphins second preseason game, Henne will take all first team snaps and Matt Moore will get the second team snaps. This was the setup for the Falcons game last Friday.
One thing that will increase for Friday's game against the Panthers will be the starters will remain in the game longer. Sparano said starters could be on the field into the second quarter.
Most starters play sparingly until the third preseason game when they play the first three quarters.
There was one injury Monday to dynamic kick returner Philip Livas. But, Sparano said the injury was simply hamstring tightness and that he's listed as day-to-day. Sparano also said he hopes cornerback Will Allen can play Friday.
The Dolphins will battle the Panthers at Sun Life Stadium Friday night and if you can't get to the stadium, you can watch all the action exclusively on CBS4.
