Mom Who Injected Daughter With Botox Investigated
MIAMI (CBS4) – A San Francisco woman is under investigation after saying on national TV that she gives her 8-year-old daughter anti-wrinkle Botox injections whenever her daughter appears in beauty pageants.
"It's child abuse," said Dr. Carlos Wolf, who is a plastic surgeon at Miami Plastic Surgery.
Wolf is concerned of the psychological effects Botox could have on a young child.
Trent Rhorer with the city of San Francisco Human Services Agency said officials want to sit down and talk with Kerry Campbell and her daughter, Britney.
Campbell appeared with her daughter Thursday on ABC's "Good Morning America." She enrolls Britney in beauty pageants and says she got the idea to give her daughter Botox from other pageant mothers.
Hollywood-based Michael Galanes is the National Director for the Little Miss Perfect Pageant. He also stars in the WE TV reality show "Little Miss Perfect." He's been working in the pageant industry for almost 20 years. He says he's never seen parents use Botox on their kids.
"This is way beyond an over zealous stage mom," said Galanes. "But a mom that clearly needs help."
Rhorer says his office received numerous calls from people concerned about Britney's well-being after the TV appearance.
Botox injections can be painful and are not recommended for anyone under the age of 18.
