MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans and 13th ranked lightweight Dustin Poirier paid a visit to CBS Miami on Tuesday.
Evans, currently ranked number five in the world, is making a comeback after taking nearly two years off. He plans on making another run at a championship.
He has drawn inspiration from current Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier.
As part of his recovery, Evans has spent time training at EXOS, previously known as Athletes' Performance, through a new partnership developed by the UFC. It has helped Evans gain confidence in rehabbing his injured knee.
EXOS is the same place where many NFL players train during the offseason and where NFL Draft prospects prepare for the NFL Combine.
Poirier will fight for the third time at lightweight since making the transition up from featherweight when he faces Joe Duffy in Dublin, Ireland next month.
He feels much stronger at lightweight and has enjoyed training much more since moving up in weight class.
The pair sat down with CBS4 sports anchor Jim Berry. The full interview can be seen by clicking on the video above.
