MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- With the Major League Soccer All-Star game just one day away, a topic of discussion among owners may be its future in Miami.
The all-star game will be held in Denver on Wednesday evening but the owners meet informally throughout the week.
According to representatives of the Beckham Group, during these meetings, "the hope is that the local efforts her will be a topic of discussion."
The owners are said to typically meet for dinner the night before the match, but as of right now, there is no set agenda on what will specifically be talked about.
While there is not set meeting, MLS along with soccer star David Beckham's bid for a stadium in South Florida has been a main topic if discussion here in South Florida.
Earlier this month, Beckham's group picked the Orange Bowl site as the next spot for a possible MLS stadium.
But there are still some hurdles for the group.
For the stadium to be in that location, small apartment buildings near the Orange Bowl, would have to go.
The city manager was set to start work on getting documents, but city commissioners will still have to decide to authorize the manager to move forward. Several steps will also need to be taken such as legal planning and a traffic study.
Meantime, some city commissioners are not happy about the decision, saying they were blindsided by the announcement for the new spot.
"I didn't find out about the stadium until I saw it on television," said Miami City Commissioner Willy Gort.
"I find it irresponsible and disrespectful to the residents the way this information came out," said Commissioner Frank Carollo who represents the old Orange Bowl district, where residents of several buildings would have to be moved for the soccer stadium.
According to the Sun Sentinel, Miami mayor Tomás Regalado said Monday Beckham United would cover the cost of relocating the residents that would be displaced by the stadium.
Despite hurdles, Beckham United says they will be funding the stadium themselves and hope to be playing in the stadium by 2018.
