Miramar Police Captain Charged With Lewd Conduct
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A Miramar police captain has been arrested and charged after he allegedly forced an underage girl to expose her breasts and genitals.
Juan De Los Rios, 46, is charged with two counts of 'lewd or lascivious conduct on a child under the age of 16'.
According to the arrest warrant, the incident happened January 18th in a parking lot behind a Miramar industrial park. The girl, 15, told police that she was talking with a man, 19, in the back seat of a car when De Los Rios approached the vehicle and asked if the pair had been having sex.
The girl allegedly told De Los Rios that they were just talking, but according to the arrest affidavit, he told the girl to take off her pants because he needed proof.
The teen told investigators that she was scared of De Los Rios, so she did as she was told. She told officers that De Los Rios used his flashlight to look at her private parts and made her pull down her blouse to look for bruising.
De Los Rios then reportedly let the teens leave.
After receiving a complaint, the Miramar police department conducted a criminal investigation and turned their findings over to the State Attorney's Office.
De Los Rios, who has been with the department since January 1994, has been suspended without pay. Bond is set at $30,000.
