Miramar Mother Asks For Help Identifying Deadly Hit & Run Driver
MIRAMAR (CBSMiami) – A grieving mother spoke out Monday hoping that someone somewhere has information that can help police find the driver of a car that killed her six-year-old son in a hit-and-run accident.
The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. last Wednesday. Police said De'Andre Binns was with his mother and his mother's boyfriend at a McDonald's Restaturant at SW 62nd Avenue and Miramar Parkway.
Police said the boyfriend was walking across the street with one child when De'Andre ran into the street to follow him. Then a white sedan hit De'Andre forcing the boy's body onto the hood of the car. His body fell off the car and he was run over.
"It leaves us with this scar," said the DeAndre's mother, Monique Batchelor. "I don't want to think that we'll never find out why. We'll never find out why you just kept going. Why?"
Miramar Police released photographs of a vehicle of interest Monday. The car was a white, 4-door sedan that was missing a front-right hubcap and had tinted windows.
"We want answers, we want justice," Batchelor said. "We just want help. It could have been anyone's kid, not just mine."
Miramar Police said Monday they have received on a few tips so far in the case, which is why the family spoke Tuesday hoping to spark someone's memory.
"We've been looking at hundreds of hours of video," said traffic homicide investigator Seth Schaller. "We've got more video coming in every day. We're not going to quit until we find this car."
