Miguel Cabrera Arrested For DUI
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS4) Former Marlins and current Detroit Tigers star Miguel Cabrera was arrested late Wednesday night for DUI after he was found on the side of the road with his car's engine smoking, but that was just the beginning.
Cabrera was discovered on Okeechobee Road in St. Lucie County and the deputy said in the arrest affidavit that he could smell a strong odor of alcohol from his breath, his eyes were watery, and his speech was heavily slurred.
According to the affidavit, Cabrera was asked who was with him and he stated, "I am going to *expletive* kill him." But, according to the deputy, there was no one else in the vehicle or in the area.
It was at this point that Cabrera allegedly picked up a bottle of scotch and started drinking it, according to the arresting deputy. The affidavit stated that Cabrera got out of the car and started walking in the road while putting his hands up.
Cabrera was eventually put into handcuffs when another deputy arrived. According to the affidavit, Cabrera was asked to get into the second deputy's patrol car but refused. Cabrera said, "*Expletive* you, do you know who I am," according to the arrest affidavit.
The deputy who drove Cabrera to the St. Lucie County Jail said that there was a strong odor of alcohol in his vehicle that was not there prior to Cabrera getting put into the vehicle.
Cabrera's car was towed, ironically enough, by Sports Towing.
