Miami Woman Charged For Stealing From Holocaust Survivors Program
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – A Miami woman has been charged with stealing personal identification information from people at the Jewish Community Services who were seeking help from the Holocaust Survivors Assistance Program.
Crystal Thorne, 23, was charged with identity theft Monday after making her initial court appearance.
According to the Justice Department, Thorne worked for the Jewish Community Services of South Florida in North Miami.
Justice officials said Thorne had access to personal identification of clients who were trying to use the Holocaust Survivors Assistance Program.
The Justice Department said they worked with a cooperating individual and said Thorne offered to sell thirty identifications that she had at her home. Thorne was willing to sell the information for $1,000.
Officials conducted a sting and when Thorne was paid for the identifications, she was arrested by federal authorities.
